The board of advisors helps to perfect VIPC’s development strategy, enhance the image of VIPC, strengthen our team’s competence, create more business opportunities for VIPC and support in developing investors’ relationships.

The board provides consultation to the company in building development strategies related to corporate governance, human resources, products, investor relationships and market development. The board works independently of the board of directors and board of management in sharing concepts about the company’s development strategy and recommending strategic clients as well as potential investors and projects.

Dr. Markus Freiburghaus – Board member

Dr. Markus Freiburghaus is currently a professor at the University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern Switzerland. He is a member of the board of directors of its school of business and is in charge of the training department. Dr.  Freiburghaus received his doctoral degree in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) in 1992 and worked for 10 years as a financial consultant before becoming a member of the faculty at the University of Applied Sciences. He currently teaches several degree courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Switzerland and, as a guest lecturer, at their partner universities in Europe, China and Vietnam. His professional and scientific experience covers the fields of corporate finance, financial accounting and financial management.


With his in-depth knowledge and experiences in finance, Dr. Freiburghaus will support VIPC in incorporating the company, setting the most efficient development strategy and connecting to key players in the financial field from Switzerland as well as other European markets.

GaryMr. Gary Sum – Board member

Mr. Gary Sum is Chairman of SwissCapital Asia franchise (www.swisscapitalasia,com) in Swiss-heritage multi-family office, portfolio management, private equity and project financing services for mainly ethnic Chinese/Chaozhou in Asia; the CEO of private China CFC financial holding institution (www.cfcco.com); Vice Chairman of SwissCapital Vietnam Global Commodities Trading Corporation (www.gccom24.com); Senior Advisor of VIPC Capital (www.vipc.com.vn); Managing Partner of Miller Gold (www.miller-gold.com) and Vice Chairman of China New Media Foundation. He was founding President, head of private bankers division of Bank of China’s first overseas private bank; formerly executive of UBS AG, EFG Bank and Royal Dutch/Shell Group.

Mr. Sum sits in the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC 中國政協委員) Chaozhou City Committee and Chaozhou Xiangqiao Committee since 2007, and is a regular speaker at CPPCC annual meetings on China financial reform issues. He was elected board executive director in 2010, among nine members globally, of the International Teochew Youth Federation to help bridge the Chaozhou community with his finance professionalism. Leveraging on these, he serves family office clients in Asian niche markets with tailored offshore SPV/SPC portfolios and advocates Family ETF for philanthropic interest.

Mr. Sum has regular presence in money programs such as Reuters, CNBC, ET Now, Economic Times, Phoenix, IndiaFOC; IQPC and WBR summits, sharing his comments and opinions worldwide. He also provides daily Chinese commentary at JC Stock with South China coverage, writes in monthly PRC Bauhinia Magazine and other below-the-line sources.

Mr. Sum earned a part-time MBA (fully sponsored by Shell in 90's) with Dean's List equivalent grade from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and B. Eng. (Computer Eng.) from HKU. Mr. Sum carries adjunct post academically and voluntarily to plough back the Country.

Mr. Sum, with valuable contribution by nimble yet bold Management Board, and international Advisory Board led by Mr. Bennett, shapes the present SwissCapital Asia franchise in the wake of China and emerging Asian markets' phenomenal growth, for best interest to institutional and private clients.

Mr. Nguyen Quy Binh – Board member

Mr. Nguyen Qui Binh is currently the director of NB & Associates law firm. Prior to this, he served as ambassador and permanent representative to the UN, WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, and to the Conference on Disarmament. Moreover, he has a wide range of experiences in international law and treaties. He also used to work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and participated in the Paris Club negotiations on debt restructuring for Vietnam from 1993 to 1996 and in negotiating taxation treaties for Vietnam as well as loan agreements with foreign countries and other institutions, including the IMF and World Bank.

Mr. Binh has received degrees from the Economics University of Budapest Hungary; LLB Diploma, Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands; LLM, Harvard Law School, MA, USA; International Tax Program, Harvard Law School; Project Appraisal and Management Program, Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

With his in-depth knowledge and experiences in international law and treaties, Mr. Binh will support VIPC in incorporating the company and setting the most efficient development strategy.

Mr. Davy Devaraj, LLB (Hons) Singapore (Advocate & Solicitor, Singapore)

Davy Devaraj’s background is in law and corporate related matters. He has had wide experience and exposure in many corporate areas and in many countries, apart from Singapore. These include Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and now in Vietnam. He has a good idea of the business and legal environment and business operating culture of these countries and their individual “operating systems”.

In Vietnam, he is the Chief Representative for Mercatus Capital, Singapore which is a boutique investment house. Apart from taking care of Mercatus interests in Vietnam, he also has built up an association with business groups in Vietnam and participated in Joint Venture companies in the field of Design and Construction as well as Investment, Corporate and Financial Advisory and Support Services.

Mr Davy is supported in Vietnam with Advisors who are well linked and connected. He has built up a strong reputation to assist and advise investors, both local and foreign on how to operate in Vietnam and also on various issues relating to Wealth and Financial matters. In this respect, his current portfolio in Vietnam has enabled him to build up a good network of contacts in business and Government and this provides a good environment to tap and network, to provide business and financial services and expertise.
